Cheryl Burke recently welcomed former Dancing with the Stars host Tom Bergeron on her podcast Sex, Lies, and Spray Tans. Bergeron revealed the most shocking thing he witnessed on the show, and he admitted two comments he regretted.

Tom Bergeron Tells Cheryl Burke the Most Shocking DWTS Moment

Burke asked Bergeron to talk about the most shocking thing he witnessed during his time on Dancing with the Stars. He brought up the moment Marie Osmond fainted after one of her dances in Season 5 of the show.

At the time, Bergeron cut to a commercial break. He responded to theories that Osmond was faking it by joking, “Look, I was staring down at her after she fainted, and I’ve never seen even an Osmond look that white.”

Bergeron recalled that when Osmond woke up, she looked at him and said, “Oh, crap.” He said that “gave me the perfect welcome back from an elongated commercial break,” as he was able to tell the audience she was okay.

He added that he “instantly went from TV host to friend” when Osmond fainted, explaining, “The moment I saw her in trouble, it didn’t matter I was hosting a television show. The key was, let’s make sure she’s okay.”

During his conversation with Burke, Bergeron also spoke about an uncomfortable moment between him and Season 24 contestant Simone Biles. He said a producer was in his ear remarking on the fact that Biles wasn’t smiling during the judges’ critique of her dance.

Instead of simply asking for her reaction, Bergeron commented on the fact that the gymnast wasn’t smiling. He admitted, “What woman wants to hear a guy say, ‘Hey, sweetheart, smile’?” Bergeron said Biles’ response was “brilliant,” as she said, “Smiling doesn’t win gold medals.”

Bergeron also said he regretted something he said about former pro Witney Carson. After judge Carrie Ann Inaba remarked that her partner Frankie Muniz lost control of her during a dance, Bergeron joked, “I’m guessing he’s not the first guy who’s lost control of Witney.”

The audience gasped at the remark, and Bergeron said he “immediately thought, ‘Okay, shouldn’t have said that.'”
