Former Dancing with the Stars pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy recently opened up about the experience of being a parent alongside his brother, current pro Val Chmerkovskiy. Maks shared that he’s taking advice from Val and his wife Jenna Johnson.
Maksim Chmerkovskiy Talks Parenting with Brother Val
Maks and his wife Peta Murgatroyd welcomed their second son earlier this year after documenting their journey with IVF. Baby Rio recently turned four months old. Meanwhile, Val and his wife Jenna Johnson welcomed their first son, baby Rome, in January.
“I’m excited that we’re new parents again together,” Maks told Entertainment Tonight. “I’m ecstatic about the life we get to live. … You know that the situation that the world is in. I mean, if you’re not counting your blessings when you can, you just need to look around.”
Maks went on to say that he’s “now taking advice” from first-time parent Val, adding, “I had to clean up some baby formula from my shoulder. I forgot what that was like for a little bit. But, you know, we’re back at it.”
He and Murgatroyd are apparently “looking to expand the fam” in the future, explaining, “We’re definitely not saying we’re done.”

The Pros Paid Tribute to Len Goodman This Week
During this week’s episode of DWTS, a number of former pro dancers (including Maks) returned to the show to remember late judge Len Goodman and dance a Waltz to “Moon River” in tribute to him. The routine was choreographed by Val Chmerkovskiy and Jenna Johnson.
Johnson called the routine “our love letter to him,” adding, “I have to thank all of the dancers for making it come to life because it was just really more than I ever could have imagined.”
Val said it was “a great honor to be given that opportunity,” adding that the routine “choreographed itself.” He explained, “Jen and I wanted that piece to read less of like these personal nods to Len but rather this kind of collective moment where we can all pay respect to a man that has done a lot for the dance community.”
