Bishop TD Jakes's daughter Jakes Roberts Sarah has opened up about her struggles to fit into a blended family after wedding her husband, Touré Roberts.
The couple is now in their seventh year of marriage, and Sara has penned a list of lessons she has leant through her experience with a blended family.
Sarah became a teen mom at 14 years old and later went through a difficult public divorce before meeting Roberts.

In a lengthy post, the lovely mother opened up about her blended family and took the time to explain what worked and what did not.

Sarah pointed out that putting one's marriage first is not a betrayal to the children brought into the marriage. She pointed out that marriage should lead and not be an afterthought.
The mom said that the partner knows their children better ans, so it is okay to allow them to parent them without any issues.
"At the end of the day you’re a bunch of strangers living together. If your partner wasn’t active in their children’s life before you they won’t be active because of you. Ain’t nobody got time to raise children and a partner. Highly suggest marrying someone who shares the same values concerning parenting," she said.Read also

Sarah insisted on the importance of praying before offering a perspective that could be received as criticism. She added that the Holy Spirit would give one wisdom on what to do with what one sees.
The bishop's daughter noted that she felt like her husband organically fit in her children's lives because of the vacancy, whereas she was just floating with no clear role.
"Turns out that floating is my jam. I get to be friend, Madre, teacher, stylist, chef, therapist, workout buddy, side eye partner, and so many other things," she penned.Sarah clarified that even in blended families, the partner could never replace the absentee parent. She emphasised the importance of not putting pressure on the kids to mend their broken hearts, not even with a new toy.

Sarah instead encouraged blended families to lean into the awkward.
She said that it took long for her to not feel awkward around her bonus babies.

"I tried the whole avoiding in the kitchen, no eye contact, and mind your business ministries thing. It didn’t work. So I leaned in. The same way you got to know your partner get to know them. “What ya watching on TV? How’s school? What kinda music you listening to?”blended families according to the bubbly woman, are real families. The mom urged parents in blended families to be patient as the family takes form.
